ALEC BALDWIN COMES TO BUFFALO FOR THEATER BENEFIT

BUFFALO —BUFFALO, NY - As a benefit of RoadLess Traveled Productions, company founder and artistic director Scott Behrend, along with the company’s Board of Directors, announce a very special event to take place on Wednesday, July 12, 2006.

Alec Baldwin, star of stage and film, will appear in a one-night-only reading of the international comedy hit, Art.

Baldwin has made a point of returning to the stage and most recently starred in Broadway revivals of the comedies On The Twentieth Century and Entertaining Mr. Sloane. Proof of his dedication to the stage is Baldwin’s support of Road Less Traveled Productions, a three year old Buffalo theater company founded by Scott Behrend, who will direct the reading.

Alec Baldwin heads a sterling cast in this staged reading of Art, which was an international comedy hit for author Yasmina Reza. This reading is a benefit for Road Less Traveled Productions, dedicated to the development of new scripts by Buffalo’s own playwrights.

In this benefit reading of Art , Baldwin win will star as Marc, the knowit-all tormented by his friend’s lapse in taste. Co-starring are two of Buffalo’s most respected actors. Brendan Powers will play the connoisseur Serge. Gerry Maher is the perplexed Yvan. Powers is the Artistic Director of Niagara University. He has appeared in regional theatre and television including Oh, Coward! at the Off-Broadway Irish Repertory Theatre, the Drama League’s Tribute to Liza Minnelli, All My Children and Sex & the City. Recent Buffalo performances include My Fair Lady, The Country Girl, Translations, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, and the world premiere production of The Cobbler at the Irish Classical Theatre, for which he received a Buffalo Artie Award Best Actor nomination.

Gerry Maher is a 2006 Artie Award winner for his performance as Joxer Daley in Juno and the Paycock. He has a notable career in Buffalo as a characteractor and will next appear in the title role in The Dodo Bird, a play by Buffalo playwright Manny Fried, about troubled man at a crossroads in his life.

The reading of Art will start at 8:00 p.m. Tic ic ickets ets f for or this one-night-only event are $50. Doors open at 7:30 PM.

Prior to the reading, Road Less Traveled Productions and its Board Of Directors will hold a reception in honor of Alec Bald Baldwin win and the cast of Art.

A limited number of tickets to the cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception are currently available. The reception will start at 5:30 p.m. Tickets ets to the reception, eception, including reserved seating at the r reading of Art, are $200 singly, or $350 ffor or a pair. The reading and the reception will both take place in The Church, at the corner of Delaware Avenue and Tupper Street; the home of Righteous Babe Records and Hallwalls Gallery.
