BUFFALO— Flat on their backs after the sellout success of MOMMIE QUEEREST, Janowski and Warfield turn to the turbulent life of Hollywood legend Lana Turner. In 1959, fresh off a scandalous murder trial of her Hollywood mobster boyfriend, Turner jumped into the greatest role of her life- Douglas Sirk’s masterpiece melodrama, IMITATION OF LIFE. The Oscar nominated film was the most successful Universal film of the 1960’s (surpassed in 1970 by AIRPORT) and deals with themes of identity, civil rights and unconditional mother’s love. In a high camp homage, L’IMITATION OF LIFE, features high melodrama and rolling belly laughs as Lana (Janowski) and her daughter Susie (Maria Droz). befriend Annie (Luther Nelson) and her daughter Sarah Jane (Bebe Bvlgari). The two women form a partnership that skyrockets Lana to the heights of the theatrical world, but at what cost?
