New York City— New York State Attorney Andrew Cuomo announces that he is a candidate for Governor with this 21-minute video. Cuomo talks about the major themes of his campaign by detailing dysfunction and corruption in Albany at times “could even make Boss Tweed blush.”

"Manhattan’s Wall Street debacle is matched only by Albany’s State Street debacle," he says. ” … In my opinion, politicians of both parties, Democrats and Republicans, are to blame.”

"New York State government has failed. … We want our government back," Cuomo says.

Cuomo did clearly state that he is supports marriage equality, a womans right to choose and is against the death penalty.

The video bullets many of the policy positions that have come out during the past week, including Cuomo’s intention to freeze state workers’ salaries; his push to streamline state government, which he describes as the most ambitious effort since Al Smith’s governorship; his desire to implement a 2 percent property tax cap; a sweeping new ethics and disclosure plan for public officials; and his resistance to the borrowing and the establishment of a financial review board. —Staff
