WE WANNA GET MARRIED IN BUFFALO, HELP!

Dear Editor:

Why is it so expensive for Gay partners to have Ceremonies as high as 2500.00, But when Straight couples get married it costs less than 250.00 to have a wedding.

My partner and I are looking to have a Commitment Ceremony but can not afford the high cost that these Churches offer here in Buffalo.

Dallas Texas charges range from 150.00 up to 500.00 and we are not wanting to relocate again, wee love one another and we are very happy together , but would love to take the next step for a Commitment Ceremony.

Is there anyone you may have in mind or we may contact for a Commitment Ceremony in Buffalo , if so could you let us know please..

My lover and I have been together for over a year now and we met on AOL in April of last year I moved to Dallas to be with him in June 2005 and we relocated to Buffalo here to have our ceremony here because of my friends here and family here and we would like to take the next step. We just moved back here in March this year.If you would like more details please feel free to email us if you would like more information.

Sincerely

Perhaps the best option would be to cross over the border to Fort Erie Ontario and go to the Town Hall to obtain a marriage license and they also have a list of officers that can solemnize the marriage thus making it legal.

In New York State, as you probably know, state and local governments at present do not issue marriage licenses. A commitment ceremony of course can be very meaningful for the participants but will hold no legal bearing. Because New York does not outright prohibit the recognition of same sex unions, there is currently a debate over how same sex marriages legally performed in juridictions outside of the State of New York are recognized.

I believe that there are several glbt friendly ministers in Buffalo that have performed commitment ceremonies for members of their churches. Below is a list of glbt friendly churches in Western New York.
